Do I need to be in the military to join?
QMS membership is open to current and former CAF members (Regular Force, Reserve, Rangers, Veterans) who are students, staff, or faculty at Queens. Civilian friends are always welcome at our events as guests!
Is QMS officially affiliated with the CAF?
No. Queens Military Society is an independent student organization. We celebrate our military heritage, but we do not represent, speak for, or act on behalf of the Canadian Armed Forces. We're run by students, for students.
Are events mandatory? Is there military protocol?
Nothing is mandatory—we're a social club, not a parade. Events are casual and informal. Wear what you want, show up when you can, participate how you like. We leave rank and protocol at the door.
What if I'm transitioning out of the CAF?
You absolutely belong here. QMS includes Veterans and transitioning members. Many of us are navigating that shift from military to civilian life while studying—you're not alone in that journey.
